41. Helen Laing/Legg (B. 1791)

5th Great Grandmother

9th Generation

Born - About 1791 in Ireland

Helen was a wife and mother, that is all the records I have. She would have been a daughter and probably a sister too but as I have no records of her parents – I don’t even know their names. The only records I have is that of her children.

The only reason we know she survived the famine is because of the 1851 census record of her living with her husband in Alford. She has passed by the time her children married therefore I can only assume she died soon after the 1851 census

Roman Catholic women had a hard life in the early 1800’s in Ireland. They were poor and fed their families from the potato crop so when that failed they had nothing, she mostly likely died from malnutrition as she would have given all to her husband and kids before herself.

Son – Peter Murray

Husband – William Murray

Sadly this story will end here as I have no information to go further back.
